
Philip Schlein, Partner, US Venture Partners
Philip S. Schlein joined US Venture Partners in 1985 after a successful 28-year career as an executive in the retailing industry, including 11 years as president and CEO of Macy’s, California. Under Mr. Schlein’s leadership, Macy’s sales grew from just under $300 million to almost $1.2 billion, and profits increased from $1.7 million to $108 million. He served on the Board of Directors of Apple Computer from 1979 to 1987.
Since joining USVP, Mr. Schlein has originated a number of investments in the consumer/retail sector including PETsMart, Fresh Choice and The House of Blues. In recent years, he has been active in the Internet and eCommerce areas, and has served on the Boards of iVillage, HomeGrocer.com and NBCi, among others. He is currently on the Boards of Directors of Catalist, Specialtys, Auction Drop and Oakville Grocery.
Mr. Schlein holds a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
